Project Operations Manager

Main Purpose of Job:

To support Isle of Wight Day team of volunteers by providing operational management and overseeing of key initiatives with particular focus on logistics, liaison and implementation.

This is an important role to help build and deliver a successful annual Isle of Wight Day and make it an established UK and eventually globally recognised event.

 

Working directly with: Project Director and Executive team

 

Main Tasks of Job:

  1. To Manage all the general logistical and operational aspects of IOW Day and key activities.
  2. To be the main point of contact for Executive Team and activity leaders
  3. Drive implementation and set timelines to ensure all activities happen on time and on budget
  4. Responsible for the order, purchase and delivery of all IOW Day collateral
  5. Provide documentary support where necessary, eg; timeplans, reports, action lists, guidelines, contact lists
  6. Liaison between suppliers, support services, team leaders and volunteers
  7. General admin
  8. Attend and run meetings when necessary
  9. Act as an IOW Day ambassador

Press and Media Relations Officer

Main Purpose of Job:

To support Isle of Wight Day team of volunteers by managing all the PR and generating as much publicity as possible for IOW Day and its key events.  The main focus will be liaising, creating and delivering information to the press and all media channels, developing contacts and building press relations to drive UK and eventually global awareness of IOW Day.

This is an important role to help build and deliver a successful annual Isle of Wight Day and make it an established UK and eventually globally recognised event.

 

Working directly with: Project Director and Executive team

 

Main Tasks of Job:

  • Answering enquiries from the press or other media representatives
  • Writing press releases and news reports
  • Developing media contacts
  • Monitoring media coverage
  • Attending press conferences and media interviews
  • Arrange and run meetings when necessary
  • Distributing press releases
  • Attending events, activities relevant to IOW Day
  • Informing members of the public (as well as the press) about events and initiatives
  • Working with the team to organise media events and promotional activities
  • Generating ideas to gain more media coverage
  • Act as an IOW Day ambassador

 

Personal attributes:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • An excellent working knowledge of IT and all applications relating to communications
  • Strong organisational skills

  • Some experience in journalism or writing
