All 28 Island Heroes figures have been brought together for the first time for this exhibition. This is your only chance to see this impressive body of work in one place, and also to find out the names and background of some of the amazing people who have lived on or loved our island (some surprises guaranteed). The exhibition will be followed by a public auction of the artworks on 4th November (the proceeds to Island good causes).
The Island Heroes project was a collaboration by a whole community. The blank figures were specially designed and made by and for Isle of Wight Day, with individual Heroes sponsored by local businesses and individuals. IW Day is immensely grateful to all those involved, particularly the artists – many of them professionals – who volunteered their time and materials as well as their creative energy, to produce this fascinating testament to the Island’s enduring popularity.
