I was born in Yorkshire but lived mostly in London and latterly on the Isle of Wight. As a mature student I completed an Art Foundation Course at Putney School of Art and went on to do a degree in Fine Art at London Guildhall University, graduating in 2001. I have been exhibiting paintings and prints both across the UK as well as abroad for many years.
My inspiration is the ever-changing moods of the sea just outside my studio window and it is a very personal response. I endeavour to capture the ‘noise’ of sailing as well as the more tranquil seascapes utilizing the play of light on water. My aim to portray a sensation rather than a representational likeness.
For this particular project, I will be utilizing my skills in printmaking as well as painting to produce the ‘portrait’ of Charles Dickens and am enjoying the challenge.
